Academic Programme Coordinator, Distance Education Centre, Mona Campus, Jamaica

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the posts of Academic Programme Coordinator, Distance Education Centre, Mona Campus, Jamaica.

Candidates must possess a PhD (disciplines of particular interest to UWIDEC are Education, Business, Tourism, but others would be considered) and have at least five (5) years relevant experience preferably in a tertiary institution. Candidates should display clear understanding of distance education pedagogy and, in particular, Internet support for distance education.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  1. coordinate the academic support for the distance education in their area of responsibility, maintain its rigour, and seek to formulate new developmental paths to benefit the region;
  2. have primary responsibility for overseeing the delivery of existing undergraduate programmes and for the development of graduate programmes in their area.

The successful applicant for this post will be expected to assume duties as soon as possible.

Curriculum Development Specialist, Distance Education Centre, Mona Campus, Jamaica

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Curriculum Development Specialist at The University of the West Indies Distance Education Centre (UWIDEC), Mona Campus, Jamaica.

The successful applicant should have a Master's degree (doctorate preferred) in Educational Technology, Education or a related discipline with proven practical experience in curriculum development in distance education. Experience in project management and training is essential to the position. The successful applicant will be required to work with Course Writers, Course Coordinators and Academic Programme Coordinators. The successful applicant will report to the Director, UWIDEC.

The successful applicant will be required to work with Faculties and other organisations outside the UWI to adapt or develop courses or programmes for distance education delivery. He/She will be required to do instructional design work and supervise the preparation of learning materials for print and E-learning, including web publishing.
