Biography for Mr Christopher Thomas
Mr. Thomas joined The UWI Open Campus on March 01, 2020 as the Facilities Manager after ten years of service as Project Coordinator and Clerk of Works at the University Project Management Office in the Office of Planning, UWI. His principal role during this period was, providing project management and technical support for all capital projects under the Vice Chancellery, including Open Campus Site Development projects.
Prior to joining The UWI in 2010, Mr. Thomas worked at the Knox Community College in Spalding, Manchester, Jamaica as an Assistant Lecturer/Course Coordinator. There he spearheaded the development of the Certificate in Construction Technology course and assisted in the development of the Associate Degree in Architecture course, which is currently being offered at Community Colleges in Jamaica through the Council of Community Colleges, Jamaica (CCCJ).
In addition to being a construction professional, Mr. Thomas serves as Board Member, Youth Leader, Christian Arms Coordinator, and Sunday School Teacher at the First Assembly of God Church in Mandeville, Manchester.
Mr. Thomas was born in Christiana, Manchester, and he has twelve siblings. He obtained the Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Technology from the University of Technology Jamaica in 2001, and the Certificate in Project Management from the Mona School of Business and Management, UWI in 2012. Mr. Thomas is presently enrolled in the Master of Science degree programme in Built Environment at the University of Technology Jamaica.
He is happily married, and is the proud father of two handsome boys.
